Artist Statement

Siempre me pregunté por el otro lado de las cosas, la observación del mundo, la naturaleza, los cambios reflejados en la historia y como cada uno de esos elementos, compone un todo que habitamos. Entonces, alterar sus elementos, cuestionarlos, moverlos de lugar, da lugar a una narrativa nueva, que incita nuevas preguntas y construcciones.

Ese pájaro que observamos ¿Acaso es el mismo que alimentaron nuestros ancestros? Nuestro rostro en el espejo ¿Acaso podría ser fruto de un collage del tiempo?

A través del collage, pregunto conmovida por mi poesía, mitología personal.

Mi obra como artista de collage recibe una gran influencia de mi vida como escritora, es un diálogo permanente que se retroalimenta y ambas facetas tienen a la imagen como centro.

En la creación de mis obras, busco soportes antiguos, papeles en donde el paso del tiempo ha dejado su huella, imágenes clásicas o marcadamente de épocas como los años 40s 50s 60s y son resignificadas en un nuevo espacio, que profundiza en el acercamiento a la voz de la imagen nueva, que observa y cuestiona a quien observa, pero también queda expuesta toda su propia construcción interna.

Mi forma de trabajar y componer es completamente manual, exploro dentro de mi colección de libros, revistas y diarios antiguos, aquellas imágenes que me convocan, que tienen resonancia con lo que intento comunicar. Una vez elegidas, las recorto pacientemente durante el tiempo que requiera.

Los ejes que pueblan mis obras son el universo femenino, la naturaleza en estado puro, la historia y la literatura. En estos tópicos me sumerjo una y otra vez, para descubrirme, hacer preguntas, soñar, abrir un sendero con una nueva temporalidad, para quien acepta ingresar en él.

- Artist Statement

I´ve always been curious. I always wondered about the hidden face of everything I see. I watch everything: the world, nature, the changes reflected in history, and how each one of those elements contains a whole environment where we live. Therefore, if I alter its elements, and question them, If I move them, the result gives place to a whole new narrative, that incites you to find new questions and ideas.

That bird that we see, Is perhaps the same one that our ancestors fed?

Our face in the mirror, Is perhaps the fruit of a collage of time?

Throughout the collage, I contemplate while being moved by my poetry, my mythology.

My work as a collage artist is influenced by my life as a writer, it is a permanent dialogue feeding back, and both faces have the pictures as the center.

When creating my work, I look for vintage supports. Papers where the pass of the time has left a mark. Classical pictures or markedly old-time, like the ones in the '40s, '50s, and '60s. Those pictures acquire a new meaning in a new space, finding their voice in a new era that watches and questions the observer but also, its internal construction gets exposed.

My way of working and composing is completely manual, exploring my books, magazines or old newspapers collection, those pictures inviting me, that resonates with my message to spread. Once I choose them, I trim them patiently along the time it requires.

The foundations of my work are the feminine universe, nature in its pure condition, history, and literature. In those subjects, I immerse myself over and over again, to discover myself, to ask questions, to dream, to open a path with a new timeline, for those who accept to get in there.
